Program
- 09/03/26, 9H-12H30, dictionary workshop on equality and theater debate (Amphitheater, Weber building)
-
Guests:
- Claudia Dell'Uomo, post-doctoral fellow SAPS, expert in the Gender Equality Plan from EDUC-Wide
- Ester Cois, teacher in the EDUC Female Empowerment course and expert in the Gender Equality Plan from EDUC-Wide
- Joanna Robic, member of the University of Rennes' mission for equality and anti-discrimination
- Giorgia De Gioannis, member of the UNICA-STEM university project funded by the Italian Ministry of Equal Opportunities promoting the active participation of women
The first session offers a co-writing and joint reflection workshop that aims to examine the “dictionary” tool and inclusive processes based on gender policies in academia, sexist and sexual violence and discrimination, the arts, languages, and feminist practices.
Thanks to the active contribution and expertise of several participants from the EDUC network dedicated to GEP (Gender Equality Plan), a brainstorming workshop will be held, focusing on the possibilities arising from the development and prefiguration of common dictionaries, on both a micro and macro scale (“small and large ethics” ref. P. Ricoeur). While focusing on practical issues in terms of university strategies, the activation of inter-knowledge mechanisms, and lifelong learning, we will seek to analyze the potential inherent in the emergence of languages and practices based on real needs and respectful of diversity. The development of new forms of communication and knowledge transfer (technical, scientific, etc.) among university staff is crucial to promoting collaborative methods on a daily basis within our archipelagic Europe. Made more accessible to several professional categories, as well as to students, the frameworks, “words” and uses of Gender Policies would constitute one of the pillars for improving the professional and personal conditions of the most disadvantaged human resources.
From 10:30am to 11am : complimentary coffee break
Guests: Mathilde Invernon, actress, dancer, performer and artistic director of the Compagnie Carmen Chan, and actress performer Arianna Camilli
Second session based on the play BELL END (2024), written and directed by Mathilde Invernon, performed by Arianna Camilli, which has been staged at several European festivals and theaters. BELL END explores topics such as gender-based and sexual violence, clichés arising from gendered communication and attitudes, intimate and even psycho-emotional relationships and balances between women and men, and socio-political codes determined by a male hierarchy of power relations over bodies, through bodies. The event will feature the two artists, who will participate in discussions through the restitution of certain passages from the play, and through micro-performances aimed at highlighting the key aspects of this artistic object, capable of questioning and shifting the gaze on female subjects and their multidimensional identities. At the crossroads of fieldwork and archival studies, contemporary creation, dance and song, as well as methodologies of resilient and pluralistic thinking, our “debate theater” will also be nourished by the interactions between the two performers and the teacher-researchers who are part of the EDUC Alliance.
From 12h30om to 13h30pm : complimentary lunch break - 09/03/26, 13H30-16H30, multidisciplinary conferences on gender inequalities (Amphitheater, Weber building)

- Tomas Herzan (MUNI) "Judith Butler’s concept of kinship in Spanish series depicting trans women"
Tomáš Herzán (2000) studied Hispanic Studies at Masaryk University in Brno and Language Teaching at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in Barcelona. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Romance literature at Masaryk University. He specializes in the representation of trans people in Spanish literature and audiovisual media, as well as comparative analyses of queer representation in literature in the Czech Republic and Spain. He has published academic and divulgation texts in Czech, Spanish, and English.
Abstract: the representation of trans people on Spanish television is examined by situating the topic within a historical queer framework and tracing the evolution of on-screen visibility. Focusing on the series Veneno (2020) and Vestidas de azul (2023), Judith Butler’s theories of kinship and family are applied to explore queer relations of care and alternative family structures and how they reflect broader cultural and temporal shifts.
- Emmanuel Kuzniak (UPN), "The effects of domestic violences on victims and perpetrators' mental health and psychosocial functioning"
- Svetlana Nedvedova (MUNI), "gender-related aspects of grief and bereavement following a suicidal loss and a pregnancy loss"
Two predominant grieving styles, instrumental and intuitive grieving (Martin & Doka, 2024), remain influential in bereavement discourse. Although often presented as neutral, these models are implicitly gendered, with women commonly expected to grieve through emotional expression and relational engagement. Following a suicidal loss or pregnancy loss, such expectations can intensify women’s vulnerability, as these forms of bereavement are frequently marked by stigma, silence, and moral judgment. This presentation examines how gendered norms of grief shape women’s experiences of suicide and pregnancy loss, often resulting in disenfranchised grief and pressure to conform to normative grieving scripts that fail to reflect the complexity of their lived experiences.
Světlana Nedvědová is a PhD Candidate at Masaryk University in Czechia. The focus of her dissertation research centers on exploring disenfranchized grief in Czechia, with a particular emphasis on LGBTQ+ related loss, suicide loss, and pregnancy loss. In addition to her doctoral studies, she works as a junior researcher at both Maaryk University and European Research University.
- Daniela Rendl (MUNI), "Inequalities and Empowerment in the Health system: Reproduction rights in Childbirth and Women in Surgery"
Daniela Rendl is a qualitative researcher specialising in gender studies, the sociology of health, illness and medicine, and critical studies of men and masculinities. As a doctoral candidate in sociology at Masaryk University, she examines hierarchical structures within the Czech healthcare system through two boundary professional domains: men in nursing and women in surgery.
Abstract: this presentation examines inequalities and the empowerment of women within the healthcare system across two distinct research domains. (a) Reproductive rights are explored through findings on the de-medicalisation of maternity care, drawing on repeated experiences of home birth following hospital birth as sites of autonomy, competence, trust, and mutual support. (b) Women in surgery constitute a vibrant field for analysing professional and gendered hierarchies, strategies for overcoming structural barriers, opportunities for networking, experiencesharing, and supportive mentoring, as well as the strength, courage, and determination that shape their professional trajectories.
